A young mother sits in the living room
With a small baby asleep in her arms
She gazes at her child with love
And marvels at the wonder before her
Now the child has grown up
Walking out the door with confident strides
The mother watches her son with pride
But also a hint of sadness in her eyes
Years have passed and the child is now a man
Living far away in a distant land
The mother thinks of him every day
Wishing he was near not so far away
One day a knock on the door
The son has returned after so many years
The mother embraces him with joy and tears
Grateful that he is finally here
The mother and son sit and talk
Remembering times long gone
The son tells of his travels and adventures
But always with a longing to return home
As the night draws to a close
The mother and son hug and say goodbye
The mother watches as he walks away
With a bittersweet feeling she can't deny
But the memories they shared that day
Are etched forever in her heart
The love between a mother and child
Is a bond that can never be torn apart
